Sarrians and Vacqueyras are former lands of the Comtat Venaissin, territory of the Popes since 1274, until the annexation to France in 1791. The terraces of the Ouvèze, where the Garrigues terroirs are located, were used as exploited agricultural land by the Avignon papacy from the 13th Century to the 19th Century. Vines were cultivated there, as today, but also wheat, which made it possible to diversify production, particularly following attacks by Phylloxera, which ravaged vines in Europe from 1865 to 1920. From the start of the 20th century, the vine has once again become the main activity of the region. On the estate, it is the remains of the Sheepfold, today reconstructed identically, which recall this period of strong agricultural and pastoral activity.
