Johan Vineyards 'Disco Chicken' Rosé
Producer: Johan Vineyards
Region: Oregon, United States
Grapes: Blaufränkisch (34%), Pinot Noir (25%), Zweigelt (15%), Kerner (14%) and St. Laurent (12%).
Quite a few years ago, our winemaker Morgan had a wildly inspiring rosé from Austria, and thought she’d try her hand at making one herself with the Austrian grapes we have growing in the vineyard. The 2021 Disco Chicken Rosé is a blend of Blaufränkisch (34%), Pinot Noir (25%), Zweigelt (15%), Kerner (14%) and St. Laurent (12%). All varieties were harvested, soaked on skins for a few hours and direct pressed, yielding a bright and focused wine with beautiful acid and light red fruit. The label highlights one of our favorite music genres - DISCO - and our lovable and gregarious Johan chickens.

Johan Vineyards resides on 85 acres of gently sloping estate vineyards in the heart of the Willamette Valley. Adjacent to the Van Duzer corridor, our vineyards are blessed with afternoon ocean breezes and cool evening temperatures that are ideal for
ripening Burgundian varietals. Elevations range from approximately 180 to 380 feet. Soils are Helvetia, Steiwer, and Santiam silts which were formed primarily from ancient marine sedimentary rock. Johan Vineyards is passionate about making premium wines that showcase the estate vineyards. If one starts with excellent grapes, handles the fruit carefully, and intervenes in the wine making process only when necessary, the wine should be great. These wines offer elegance,
balance, complexity, and ageability. All wines are made in small, hand-crafted batches to insure quality and enjoyment. We produce Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, and Vin Gris.
