La Gerbelle Sansoufrir Blanc is a blend of Jacquere and Chardonnay grown at elevation. Fresh apricot and quince with crunchy acidity and flinty mineral. Finishes with a creamy nutty note. The wine goes through malo and spends 8 months on the lees. Bottled unfined, unfiltered, and with no added sulfites.
About Domaine Claude Quenard
The farm originates from a former Carthusian farm which was bought by Quenard’s ancestors when the church and the state separated in 1905. From polyculture breeding at that time, they focused on viticulture in the 1960s. A second development took place in the 1990s, with the reasoning of the use of vine treatment products to achieve their removal from the soil and the plant in 2000. They try to have a more integrated approach to their environment, for example by installing a system of recuperation and treatment of their wastewater for recycling and to reuse for various purposes. Certified organic since 2000 and certified biodynamic Demeter since 2016 is managed by Guy and André (sons of Claude). Today, the new generation, Vincent, Guy’s son, is arriving at the estate and has already put his personal touch to it with the launch of a craft brewery activity, also in organic form.
