San Guglielmo Brunello di Montalcino 2017
ABOUT: The story begins 20 years ago with the dream of Guglielmo Martini, one of the founding members of the consortium of Brunello, and today is realized by his Granddaughter, Ilaria, and her husband, Mike. San Guglielmo is a family business and can not be otherwise; it is their land, their vineyard, their heritage. All phases of the wine's production from the vineyard to the cellar and until bottling are given maximum attention and devotion.
VINEYARD: The first thing you notice when visiting the vineyard of San Guglielmo is the spectacular view of the city of Siena. The sea breeze rises out of the west from Maremma and gets mixed with the intoxicating scent of sylvan of the nearby woods. The heart-shaped vineyard sits at 1,300ft elevation and the soil is made up of clay and marl. The vines are 25 years old
WINEMAKING: The grapes come into the cellar in late September and are fermented in stainless steel tanks without the use of commercial yeasts. The wine is aged in large Slavonian Oak casks for at least 24 months before aging in the bottle for another 2 years.
