Statera Corral Creek Chardonnay 2015

Unfined, unfiltered, no additions. This is about as natural as you can get. Statera’s motto – “Chardonnay, not chemicals” – certainly comes through in this wine.

They also use exclusively neutral oak barrels so banish that thought of the over-oaked Chardonnay. This is a lovely, well-balanced wine with a creaminess that comes from sitting on the lees and a natural acidity from the vineyard. It’s that balance that is the prime objective at Statera.

Hints of tropical fruit mix with strong bursts of green apple tartness. This is a great food wine – anything from fish and chips to a chopped salad or, even better, fish tacos!

Coral Creek vineyard is best known by lovers of Chehalem wines. Luke and Meredith met while they were both working at Chehalem Winery – and their close relationship with the winery allows them to get access to this extraordinary fruit.
